A Tribute to a Great Mind

Christopher Hitchens

As most people are already aware, the world lost an amazing individual this past week.  Christopher Hitchens, journalist, editor, and outspoken atheist, has died at age 62.  Over the course of the last week, I have been delighted to see a flooding of tributes and memorials dedicated to the life that this man led.  This post is my own way of paying homage to a man who was a great inspiration to me.

I am late to the party here, and am unlikely to have anything terribly original to say, but I would be remiss if I did not express my own thanks and appreciation for the impact that Christopher Hitchens had on the world.

He spent his life challenging ignorance, credulity, obedience, and conformity.  He encouraged free thought, and human solidarity.  He was certainly not without controversy, but his arguments, combined with the skill with which he was able to deliver them, were instrumental in inspiring me to join the anti-theism cause.  Christopher Hitchens’ death leaves a void that will not be easily filled.  He will be missed, but not forgotten.

For everything you accomplished, and for the lessons you leave behind…. Thank you
